Actually no you do not. How do you think so many Poles, Chinese, Japanese, Russians, Italians etc. became citizens? A child can sponsor their parent, but the parent is not legally obligated to speak English. I agree English should be the official language and required for jobs where it is necessary in communicating. However I also think learning other languages makes you a more capable and aware person and that is shouldn't be required for someone who works in a profession More
This is such a great article with very useful information! This is a great time of year for students to begin searching for scholarships for the upcoming school year. By starting the process now, you will have a huge head start on the competition! Scholarships are a great source of money to pay for college scholarships and grants, but most students and their parents don't have the time or energy to look for them. And even if they do, there is so much information out there More
The greenback is on life support. Only those who get a kick out of playing with fire show concern or interest in it. It was given a death sentence in 1973. Americans never caught on to the scam of intentionally inflating and deflating something of value. Around the world they were quite aware of and willing to tolerate the fiat paper as long as America was valuable. The world is very much aware of our debts and do not wish to be the last one holding worthless paper. Lets More
And yet they still pay a whopping majority of all taxes (federal, state, local)! The Bush tax cuts were like giving a band aid to someone who's leg just got chopped off; sure, it stems a little bleeding, but you're still missing a leg.
And the Bush tax cuts decreased federal income tax brackets tax rates for ALL income brackets, you idiot. Try reading up on the issues at least a little and do some of your own critical thinking for once. Ed Schultz, believe it or not, does More
I think we when are taxes due 2012 having a spending crisis.
We have learned repeatedly that you can't control spending by the Democrats by lowering taxes.
So I suggest we simply leave taxes alone for the next two years and focus on one thing - spending.
Spending for 2012 should be $2.5 trillion (18% of GDP - the long-term average) rather than Obama's proposed $3.5 trillion for 2012.
Forget taxes. Forget the debt ceiling. Simply tell the Democrats, since they don't like More
No Jerry, it may not be right to attack the GOP for this particular incident. But we should all take time to reflect on the animus that is being exhibited towards folks that are running for Congress. My view is that overall there is a more systematic and targeted rhetoric against Democrats (but of course Democrats are not without fault here...) I remember that blast about Gen Petraeus being a betrayer to Ameraica..that too is clearly wrong). I'm just asking folks to reflect More
True, a grade is a data point, but it is important to look at many data points to determine statistically significance. Overall GPA in a subject (math) or in high school is a much better indicator of academic success than whether you got an A or an A- on any given test anxiety tips or even any given class. I personally prefer the option of an 100 % final. This can give slower, but excellent learners the opportunity to master material, but for students who have test anxiety, More
I am glad this story brings to light the 90% failure rate of CPR. In one study done in a hospital over several year no need to argue one over the age of 70 survnived a full cardio-pulmonary arrest followed by immediate CPR to the point of discharge. I have little doubt that the 10% survival rate mention was due to people under 70 who received CPR. We have to raise the question - if CPR is 100% ineffective in those over 70, should it ever be administered? It is an expensive More
There is another solution than cutting these programs. Limit how much of the funds may be used for management overhead. Impose the same 80% medical loss mandate on the UMMC that Obamacare imposes on the private insurance industry, and this program will be solvent in no time management techniques flat. Restrict the government from spending SS funds on other than retirement payments. Our problem isn't our generosity in having these programs, it's the incompetence of government More
Ms. Noonan is a tough critic, I wish I could respect her point of view, but like most of these current batch of vocal Republicans, it's one-side and Malicious. These people have blood thirst for Obama. And, when they smell blood, they dive in like blood sucking zobbies. He's been suffering body blows from day one. Unfair, unjustified and unrealistic critism. Peggy's comment is not driven by her love for America, It's driven by her Hate for Obama. (oh and her love for Regan). More
